Fr Dan and wife MegSince 2008, our resident Vicar at St. Ann's By-the-Sea has been The Rev. Daniel W. Barker. On May 16, 2010, as Father Dan entered his second year of ministry here, The Right Reverend Geralyn Wolf, XII Bishop of Rhode Island, visited Block Island to officiate at a festive service in honor of Father Dan's ministry at St. Ann's.

Dan and his wife, Meg, have made Block Island their home in every conceivable way. They are active in the Block Island Ecumenical Choir and the informal community lunches (Lunch Bunch and Soup Group) served twice weekly at Block Island's Community Center. Meg takes part in a reading group on the Island, and Dan, in addition to his regular duties as a member of the Ecumenical Ministry, also serves on the town's Housing Board, helping to find solutions to the challenges of creating affordable housing on Block Island. With a background in engineering, Dan is also a constant putterer: with engines, his boat, his car and van, furniture, and anything else that presents itself in need of work or repair. He and Meg are active leaders at all our church functions and fundraisers, and we feel blessed indeed that they have come into the life of our parish.

Formerly rector at St. David’s in Agawam , Massachusetts, Dan is retired, but maintains a very active ministry here on Block Island. He and Meg both feel that St. Ann 's By-the-Sea is a door that was opened to them at just the right time.
